Florence apps for public transport, trams and taxis
Florence is mostly explored on foot, so you need fewer apps than in a larger city. Keep the official at bus app for buses and tickets, AppTaxi for a licensed taxi, and the GEST website for tram and airport information.

In a nutshell: download at bus if you expect to use buses or buy digital tickets, save AppTaxi if you may need a licensed taxi, and bookmark GEST for the T2 tram between Florence Airport and the city. The historic centre itself is compact and best covered on foot, so do not build an oversized app folder for a short visit.
The official app for Florence buses
Autolinee Toscane's official app covers bus travel throughout Tuscany. The operator says it shows vehicles in real time, helps identify the right ticket, provides journey planning and keeps purchased tickets in the in-app shop. Use it for Florence buses and for regional bus journeys beyond the city.
Taxi app for Florence
Taxi 4242, a Florence radiotaxi service, directs passengers to AppTaxi as its app-booking channel. Keep it as a backup for early departures, luggage-heavy transfers or journeys that are inconvenient by bus. A licensed taxi app is different from a private NCC transfer arranged in advance.
The official Taxi 4242 website also provides direct booking channels. During busy events or bad weather, an app request may take longer than expected, so allow a margin rather than timing a taxi to the last minute.
Tram and airport information without another app
GEST operates Florence's tram system and publishes the official lines, schedules, ticket information and service news on its website. Its airport page explains the T2 connection between Florence Airport and the city, making the site the most useful browser bookmark for an arrival or departure day.
