Marco Polo Airport (VCE) is the main gateway, standing on the lagoon's mainland edge about 13 km north of the historic centre - one surprisingly large modern terminal with a daily tourist office, car-rental desks, ATMs and a good spread of shops and places to eat. Treviso's airport - officially Antonio Canova - is where the budget carriers fly, about 30 km from Venice. Ryanair keeps a base here (joined by Wizz Air on a few routes), and fares are often noticeably cheaper than Marco Polo. The trade-off is the transfer: Treviso is a smaller, faster airport - you can be through security in minutes - but you need to budget roughly an extra hour to reach Venice.
